MORIS at the A&O Shearman Munich Defense Summit

MORIS recently joined the A&O Shearman Munich Defense Summit, an event for companies and investors focusing on current legal issues and regulatory developments in the defense sector. Our Counsel, PhD Mykola Kotenko, participated as a featured speaker in the panel discussion “Cooperation with Ukraine Companies.”

During the session, Mykola shared key insights into the rapid evolution of the Ukrainian defense sector:

"At the AOS Defence Summit Munich, I shared how Ukraine’s defense industry has transformed over four years of full-scale war - from a centralized, state-driven system into a fast-moving, battlefield-tested innovation ecosystem. We discussed Ukrainian–German cooperation, procurement under wartime conditions, investment risks, and why Ukraine is increasingly a co-developer and technology partner rather than just a buyer."

Beyond industrial cooperation, the Summit served as a platform to address critical challenges in the current security landscape, including:

• Technological Innovation: The role of AI and cyber defense in autonomous warfare.
• Investment & Finance: Equity funding structures and lending transactions specifically for the defense sector.
• Strategic Integration: Regulatory and political environment
