Aspen Institute Kyiv x MORIS x Khartiia held a seminar “Resilience and Responsibility: Leadership in Wartime
On 6 September 2025, Aspen Institute Kyiv, in partnership with MORIS and the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine "Khartiia," held a seminar "Resilience and Responsibility: Leadership in Wartime".
An event brought together military officers, business leaders, experts, and civil society representatives. Participants discussed the challenges facing Ukrainian society during the wartime and the values that help to maintain a moral compass.
Main topics:
- War as a challenge to humanity — how to preserve human dignity in everyday decisions.
- Dimensions of leadership — what lessons leaders draw from Ukraine’s wartime experience.
- Ethics in wartime — how to act rightly when there are no established answers.
The dialogue was moderated by Denys Poltavets, Program Development Director at Aspen Institute Kyiv. The event was coordinated by Olena Fomina, Policy Program Director at Aspen Institute Kyiv.
We believe that even in the darkest times, dialogue, openness, and the ability to truly hear one another help us preserve a value-based foundation — what we call a moral compass.
We strive to create a space for honest conversation and for finding solutions that help Ukraine grow stronger.
Representatives of MORIS at the dialogue were:
- Andriy Romanchuk – Legal Service Officer of the 2nd Corps of the NGU "Khartiia", Founder of MORIS;
- Maryan Martynyuk – Senior Partner;
- Roman Tytykalo – Partner.
“At MORIS, we are glad to host this event, as we are deeply convinced that overcoming the challenges Ukraine faces today requires broad and open dialogue. Such conversations between business, active civil society, and the military create the foundation for effective solutions.” — Maryan Martynyuk.
