Aspen Institute Kyiv, together with MORIS law firm and the 2nd Corps of the NGU "Khartiia", held the second edition of the seminar "Resilience and Responsibility: Leadership in Wartime
What helps preserve democracy, trust, and a sense of justice when security priorities are constantly rising? How do we hold onto our humanity when war demands difficult, rapid, and high-stakes decisions?
Recently, Aspen Institute Kyiv, together with MORIS law firm and the 2nd Corps of the NGU "Khartiia", held the second edition of the seminar "Resilience and Responsibility: Leadership in Wartime."
The event brought military personnel, business leaders, civil society representatives, and experts together around one table. The conversation centered on the challenges that war poses to Ukrainian society, the state, and its leaders.
Key topics included:
- Justice, security, and trust: How the relationship between the state and its citizens is changing, and what shared responsibility means in a time of war.
- Democracy during wartime: How to maintain a focus on security without abandoning democratic principles.
- Dimensions of leadership: The lessons offered by Ukraine's wartime experience and the level of responsibility it demands from leaders.
- Wartime ethics: How to make choices in situations where there are no simple or clear-cut answers.
The dialogue was moderated by Denis Poltavets, Director of Program Development at Aspen Institute Kyiv, and Oleh Kravchuk, Founder and Head of NOBR.agency.
The event was coordinated by Olena Fomina, Director of Program Areas at Aspen Institute Kyiv, and Victoria Polishchuk, Partner at MORIS.
We are convinced that in wartime, it is dialogue, mutual trust, and a willingness to listen to diverse experiences that help preserve value-based guideposts and a sense of shared responsibility for our common future.
We thank Khartiia and Aspen Institute Kyiv for their partnership and extend our gratitude to all participants for their mature, measured approach to seeking realistic solutions and answers to complex questions.
