"Radio Aphrodite" Wins the Shevchenko National Prize!

The documentary novel by Oleh Kryshtopa, published through the initiative of MORIS, has been awarded Ukraine's highest state prize in the field of literature. This award serves as a symbol that true meaning always finds its path to recognition.

As time passes, the trivial fades away, and the challenges of the past lose their sharpness. However, there are things whose weight only increases - our memory and identity, which serve as the foundation for future generations.

Today, we have a special reason for pride. The documentary novel "Radio Aphrodite" by Oleh Kryshtopa, published by Babylonian Library at the initiative of MORIS, has become a laureate of the Shevchenko National Prize.

This book is the culmination of 14 years of labor by the author: deep archival research, investigative journalism, and dozens of interviews.

"Attention! You are listening to the voice of Free Ukraine!"

In 1943, this was how the underground radio station "Aphrodite" began its broadcasts. It reached all of Europe in English, French, German, and russian, telling the truth about the UPA’s (Ukrainian Insurgent Army) struggle against the German and, later, soviet occupiers. One of the station’s lead announcers was a Belgian, Albert Hasenbroekx, whose voice carried the stories of the UPA’s heroism to all of Europe.

At one time, we believed in this project and supported Oleh Kryshtopa’s long-term research because we were convinced: the world must know about this side of Ukraine. We are happy to have made our contribution and to have helped this vital page of history resonate at full volume.
