MORIS Successfully Defends Interests of Major Corporation in Court

The White-Collar Crime and Business protection practice team at MORIS, in cooperation with attorneys from Synegor Law firm, has successfully defended the interests of the CEO and owner of a major logistics enterprise. The client had been accused of misappropriation of property through abuse of official position on an especially large scale and forgery by an official. The prosecutor requested a penalty of 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

However, in the court of first instance, the defense attorneys successfully demonstrated the absence of the corpus delicti (elements of a crime) in the charged offenses, including the absence of any damages caused to the state-owned enterprise.

As a result: The client was acquitted of all charges.
